Monitoring visits to companies accepting SSWs

We will visit companies accepting the foreign national SSW1, check whether the acceptance is properly conducted according to the Acceptance Plan for SSW in Construction through the following measures and give guidance and advice if necessary.

• interviews with the person(s) responsible for/in charge of the acceptance of SSWs.
• checking of relevant documents such as wage ledgers, work attendance records and others.
• interviews with the foreign national SSWs in native languages.

And prior to monitoring visits, we conduct the "Acceptance Situation Confirmation" to check about the situation of the acceptance of the foreign national SSWs shortly after the start of the acceptance, by sending the survey forms to the accepting companies and requesting for the submission of the answers and relevant documents.

Regarding the working conditions of foreign national SSWs, it is extremely important for accepting companies

• to pay the basic wage and allowances,
• to pay the fixed and stable monthly salary,
• to increase salary based on skill proficiency

according to the "Acceptance Plan for SSW in Construction" approved by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism.

If accepting companies previously pay salary on the daily basis and have adopted salary on monthly basis in conjunction with the acceptance of foreign national SSWs, please give special consideration to clearly designating the prescribed working hours and working days and rest days, payment for working on rest days, and granting of paid leaves.
